As we move forward in our next steps as an organization against systemic racism, against injustice, and against inequality, we stand next to our community partners and nonprofits who are investing in community-led diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice work.
The first investment we are making is in the Albuquerque Center for Peace and Justice.
The Albuquerque Center for Peace and Justice has been serving the Albuquerque area for nearly 35 years and the mission and commitment to peace and to justice has been unwavering. That mission takes on many different iterations as time, circumstance, and current events, urge us to speak out and to take action. Today, the Center has not seen its current level of engagement for some time, but as we work to change the narrative for something better, we also recognize that our relationships with one-another can and must change to adjust to this new normal. So much has impacted the realities of our mission but what remains clear is that all our new experiences have converged on the Center for Peace and Justice in such a way that we are renewed in our determination to serve.

The next investment we are making is in the New Mexico Black Leadership Council.
The New Mexico Black Leadership Council (NMBLC) serves as a hub to create a viable and sustainable social profit sector designed to serve the black community in the state of New Mexico.
Through its work, the NMBLC focuses on building capacity in four key areas: Tourism + Cultural Vibrancy, Health (Physical, Behavioral, and Financial), Positive Youth Development + Leadership, and Civic Engagement. Currently, the NMBLC is engaging a committee to plan an interactive educational program with a Strategic Doing follow up component/option as they develop a coalition of the willing to take on real change.
This work will help with laying the groundwork for a cultural shift and is engaged in interactive education with sectors of our community who must now come together to create a governance that is of the people, by the people and for the people.

The third investment we are making is in Together4Brothers.
Together for Brothers (T4B) is a community organization led by young men of color, community and love, with partners and allies across NM to build power, demand justice and create change. They center young men of color most impacted by systemic oppression including Black, Native and undocumented youth. Core to this centering is that Black and other youth should speak and make decisions for themselves. This includes integrating organizing against anti-Blackness in capacity building, making spaces for Black and other youth to express themselves, healing for Black and other youth and collective organizing with community partners.
