Brighter Future Fund

The New Mexico Oil & Gas Association (NMOGA) is a statewide coalition of oil and natural gas stakeholders, individuals, and companies dedicated to promoting the safe and environmentally responsible development of New Mexico’s oil and natural gas resources. With more than 1,000 members, NMOGA advocates for sensible and balanced policies for the development, production, and transportation of oil and natural gas, and works to increase the public’s awareness and understanding of industry operations and contributions to the state.

NMOGA has partnered with the Albuquerque Community Foundation (ACF) on a statewide grant program to ensure philanthropic funds are invested strategically in communities throughout New Mexico. NMOGA and ACF will be soliciting grant proposals Statewide in three open rounds in 2023, with different funding areas in each round: Economic Opportunities, Education, and Hunger.

Sandia Foundation Grants

In 2006, the Sandia Foundation engaged the services of Albuquerque Community Foundation to administer its annual grant award program. Sandia Foundation’s Trustees review and recommend grant recipients and Albuquerque Community Foundation organizes and performs required due diligence.

The efforts of the Sandia Foundation are concentrated on Albuquerque nonprofits that work with children in our community with regard to basic needs and advancing their education through long-term, consistent intervention and support.

  • Organizations must directly benefit Albuquerque residents
  • Grants awards will range in amounts up to $15,000
  • Funding focus area: child well-being with a focus on basic needs and advancing their education through long-term, consistent intervention and support
  • While organizations with operating budgets of all sizes are eligible to apply, preference will be given to organizations with operating budgets less than $1 million

Hancock Family Foundation Grant Program

The Hancock Family Foundation was a privately supported, tax exempt philanthropic institution organized to provide leadership and encouragement to community-based charitable activities in New Mexico. In 2021, the Hancock Family decided to enlist the support of Albuquerque Community Foundation in administering the family grant program.

The Hancock Family Foundation (HFF) extends its support through grants to organizations dedicated to elevating the areas of health and welfare, promoting literacy, enriching cultural arts, and addressing the pressing challenge of food insecurity. While organizations with operating budgets of all sizes are eligible to apply, preference will be given to organizations with operating budgets less than $2 million. This is a statewide grant program open to all counties and awards will be a maximum of $5,000. See below to review past HFF grant recipients.

  • Education: Channeling its efforts towards the area of education, the Hancock Family Foundation supports causes such as children's literacy programs, English as a Second Language (ESL) education, and primary education enrichment.
  • Health and Welfare: In the area of women and children's health and welfare, the Hancock Family Foundation grants to shelters dedicated to women and children and those seeking safe havens and lodging during medical procedures. HFF stands as a constant source for aid for survivors of domestic violence, and contribute to women's health and family planning services, ensuring comprehensive care for vulnerable populations.
  • Arts: Recognizing the transformative power of art, HFF embraces community-based arts initiatives. With a focus on enriching the lives of youth, HFF stands behind programming that nurtures creativity and self-expression.

Emergency Action Fund

In 2022, New Mexico experienced the worst wildfire season in recorded history. During this time, the Emergency Action Fund (EAF) was reactivated to support the affected communities.

Over $100,000 was granted last year to nonprofits providing emergency and basic human needs services. Now, as these communities begin the process of rebuilding, the remaining funding will be available to support in long-term recovery efforts.

EAF seeks proposals from organizations addressing housing stability and support, access to economic opportunities and/or environmental restoration and reforestation.

  • Housing Stability & Support may include, but is not limited to: supporting individuals and/or families in rebuilding and/or repairing homes affected by the wildfires
  • Access to Economic Opportunities may include, but is not limited to: innovative income opportunities for individuals and/or families whose primary source of income was lost due to the wildfires
  • Environmental Restoration & Reforestation may include, but is not limited to: intentional efforts directly supporting the environmental preservation, restoration and/or prevention of impacted lands
