SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SPECIAL CRITERIA —
DEADLINE March 3, 2009

Woodcock Family Education Scholarship Program -

This fund was established in 1993 by Albuquerque businessman C.E. (Woody) Woodcock and his wife, Dixie, to support students of exceptional promise in the fields of science and math. The Woodcocks strongly believe the future of this state and the country is dependent on the quality of education.Three scholarships will be awarded to Albuquerque high school graduating seniors for a total award of $11,000 payable over four years of undergraduate study.

Additional criteria:
· Albuquerque metro area high school graduating seniors only
· students with strong math and/or science credentials
· attend a college or university full time
· minimum GPA 3.8
· this is a merit-based award – DO NOT fill out Part IV Other Scholarships
  and Financial Aid Awards in the Application
Additional required information and/or attachments:
· career goals in personal statement MUST include those in the field of
  math or science
· one reference from a math or science teacher
· one or more references from other teachers, internship or work programs, or community services
 

Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque Scholarship Program -

Established by the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque, this program recognizes students with a strong history of community service. Four or more $1,000 one-time scholarships are awarded annually to Albuquerque metro area public, charter or private high school graduates with strong community service experience and strong academic records.

Additional criteria:
· Bernalillo, Sandoval, Valencia or Torrance county high school graduating seniors
· students with strong community service experience
· minimum GPA 3.0
· attend a college or university full time
Additional Information to include in your personal essay:
· if your school has a key club, are you a member?
· how you plan to give back to your community after college
Additional required attachments
· well-written essay on the importance of community service including one paragraph on why you deserve this scholarship award (maximum 2 pages, 1 side only)
· reference from one counselor or teacher (1 page, 1 side ONLY)
· reference from someone at a community service program where you have had significant participation (1 page, 1 side ONLY)


All applicants to Albuquerque Community Foundation Scholarship Programs must be:

  • New Mexico residents for a minimum of one year.

  • Attending a U.S. post-secondary, accredited, not-for-profit educational institution.

  • Some programs are only eligible for students attending New Mexico colleges/universities and some programs are available only to Albuquerque residents.

  • Reference Form included with application is optional. References are welcome to write a personal letter instead of using the form.

LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
APPLICATIONS MUST BE TYPED OR PRINTED.

ACF scholarship and financial aid awards are available ONLY to New Mexico residents and to those meeting specific criteria. Application deadlines vary between March and July. Awards begin with the fall semester.
