Fathers Building Futures
FROM CONS TO PROS. New Mexico is a state where 10% of our children have a parent either behind bars or on probation/parole. 96% of those who are currently incarcerated will return home with little or no support. The Foundation has invested in Fathers Building Futures, a social enterprise initiative offering opportunities for emotional, social and financial stability.
Fathers Building Futures began under PB&J Family Services and has graduated more than 300 fathers. The program hosts four departments: Woodshop, Auto Detailing, Mobile Power Washing and Freight & Delivery (truck driving), and provides training, mentorship, and ultimately permanent job placement. In some cases, graduates of the program start their own business.
